Scholarship Opportunity

Dear International Student:
 
Every year on March 8 International Women's Day (IWD) recognizes foreign-born women who have made significant contributions to our community. See www.iwdkern.org. Additionally in 2010, we hope to recognize two full-time international students who will each receive scholarships in the amount of $500.
 
This award is open only to female, full-time international students. It is not open to men or to anyone born in the USA.
 
To apply for the scholarship you need to provide:
  • Your academic transcript showing full-time status at CSU, Bakersfield or at Bakersfield College and a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the past one academic year.
  • A personal essay (1000 word maximum) telling us about yourself and what is important in your life. Please add a cover sheet with your name, country of birth, and all contact information: address, phone #s, and email address.
  • Letters of recommendation from two of your current instructors who will send them directly addressed to Dr. Portia Choi, the IWD committee Nomination Chair.
The deadline for your application, including all required supporting documents and two recommendation letters, is February 15, 2010. If your application is successful, you will be notified by March 1. You must be available to attend the IWD Award event at 6p.m. on March 8 at the Petroleum Club.
